Go Green

This page is dedicated to the greening of me as I like to call it. I think we need to shift our paradigms throughout our life to get to a place that works for us. Going green(er) is one of my shifts. There are many reasons for wanting to save the planet. Global warming is the number one.

This laundry detergent comes with high ratings. It works in cold water which is great for energy conservation. It has a lemon-mandarin scent which is wonderful. Available at Shoppers Drug Mart.

I know people are put off by the “cost” of certain items, but consider the long term effects. Often the bio products will last longer and do more than the commercially available chemical laden/kill the environment products.

Tips for Going Green

    • Change your incandescent light bulbs to compact flourescent light bulbs.
    • Weatherstrip your home or apartment to make it more energy efficient.
    • Buy an energy-saving thermostat.
    • Bike if weather and fitness permits.
    • take public transit. It’s cheap and easy.

OUTDOORS

    • consider getting a rainbarrel for your garden. Collect the water that falls from the sky and use this to water your plants. Vancouver, BC residents can purchase a green rainbarrel for $75 at teh city’s transfer station, 377 W. North Kent Ave.
