It’s Silly Season in B.C.

We are plagued by our second in so many months.  Everyone knew it was coming, and people were busy getting their ducks lined up in a row.  Now the nastiness has started and we are inundated with commercials slagging one side or the other.  Today our lovely leader had the audacity to say that “his side” (Liberals) weren’t putting out nasty ads.  Ok…maybe we have to go back to the definition of nasty for clarification.  Everytime I even have to look at the premiere trying to be serious I cringe.  There is not one cel in my body that can even convince myself on any level that he is an honest man who is to be trusted.  He has done nothing but lie to BC for the last several years.  He’s privatized the province and sold off Canadian assets, all while smiling at us as though we were stupid.  The coverups in his government are too numerous to mention and he’s done everything humanly possible to make his government accountable to nobody.  We have no way of really knowing what is going on because he keeps making rules to fit him.  I still have his mug shot pasted over my desk at work in my “wall of shame” corner.  Drunk driving in Hawaii…oh well….ha ha ha.  Gimme a break.

He’s the first one to jump up and down and point fingers when someone in another party does something, but now he’s facing a nice round of embarassment. B.C.’s Solicitor General has driver’s licence suspended due to excessive speeding tickets. He’s going to lose his ICBC portfolio as a result. Hello??? He’s in charge of the safety on the roads in the province yet he’s speeding so much and been caught enough times that he’s having his licence suspended? I love when the leaders lead by example.

My only hope for this is that STV (single transferable vote) passes. They got 58% yes vote in the last referendum, but then the government decided it didn’t pass because it had to be 60% (which was never really mentioned before the vote). I figure this time they’ll wait to see what the numbers are and then raise the bar just above it. It’s our only hope for fair representation.
