Why Slow Down?

The old adage is “stop and smell the roses”.  I have no problem with that.  I’m the first person to lolly gag along when I’m appreciating the blue skies, or the mountains or something that has caught my eye and I want to appreciate it.  I’m not saying one shouldn’t slow down – you absolutely should.

However, the I’m talking about are the ones in front of me.  Yesterday I was walking out of a building and this woman had gone out of her way to get in front of me (no problem), however, the minute she got within six inches of the door she slowed down to an almost stop as she turned her shoulder to the door and slowly pushed it open just enough for herself to get through.  I only became annoyed because the guy behind me then stepped on my heel and made some disparaging remark to me.  Then there are the who insist on racing down the escalator (on the left of course) and then they stop as it gets within three or four steps from the bottom, causing a pile up behind them.  Don’t get me started about the who stop dead on the sidewalk and don’t move to the side when it’s a busy sidewalk and are scurrying along.

I’ve been told I shouldn’t worry about what others think and just do my own thing, but I do worry when I’m the one being snarled at and having my shoes ripped off by the jerk behind me stomping on my heels.  Why can’t be a little more considerate of those around them – both the slow ones and the speeders!

That wasn’t a rant, just a whining observation on my part!

They wouldn’t drive me crazy so much if they didn’t take up the whole sidewalk or just kinda weave all over the place so you can’t get past them!!!
